Ingredients
Scale
Potatoes
- 3 large russet potatoes, washed and sliced into 1/4-inch rounds
Seasoning
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Toppings
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 4 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
- 2 green onions, sliced
Serving
- Sour cream, optional, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
- Toss Potato Slices with Seasoning: In a large bowl, combine the sliced potatoes with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Toss well to ensure all slices are evenly coated with seasoning.
- Arrange and Bake Potatoes: Lay the seasoned potato slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes.
- Flip and Continue Baking: After 20 minutes, flip each potato round carefully to promote even crisping. Bake for an additional 10 to 15 minutes until they are golden brown and crispy around the edges.
- Add Cheese and Bacon: Remove the baking sheet from the oven and immediately sprinkle the potato rounds with shredded cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon evenly over the top.
- Melt Cheese: Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for 5 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and is bubbly.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven, top the potato rounds with sliced green onions, and serve warm. Add sour cream on the side if desired for extra creaminess.
Notes
- For a vegetarian version, omit the bacon or substitute with plant-based bacon bits.
- Yukon Gold potatoes can be used instead of russets for a creamier texture.
- These potato rounds make a fantastic party appetizer or side dish alongside burgers and grilled meats.
- Ensure potato slices are cut uniformly for even cooking.
- Use parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
