Scale
Ingredients
- 4 medium-sized lemons (preferably fresh and organic)
- 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 4 cups cold water
- 1/4 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1-2 cups ice cubes (or more, depending on preference)
- Lime wedges or lemon slices for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Lemons: Wash the lemons thoroughly. Cut off the ends of each lemon, then cut each into 8 wedges, using the whole lemon including the peel.
- Blend the Ingredients: Place the lemon wedges, cold water, sweetened condensed milk, and sugar into a blender.
- Blend: Blend on high speed for 30 seconds to 1 minute until the lemons are completely broken down and the mixture becomes frothy.
- Strain (Optional): For a smoother texture, strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove pulp and seeds. Skip this if you prefer a pulpy texture.
- Add Ice and Blend Again: Add ice cubes to the blender and blend until the ice is crushed and the drink is frothy and cold.
- Serve: Pour the Brazilian lemonade into serving glasses, garnish with lime wedges or lemon slices if desired, and serve immediately.
Notes
- Using whole lemons, including peel, imparts a slightly bitter taste; ensure organic or unwaxed lemons to avoid pesticides.
- Adjust the amount of sugar based on your sweetness preference.
- Straining is optional but recommended for a smoother texture.
- This drink is best served immediately to enjoy the frothiness and freshness.
- Fresh lime or lemon slices enhance presentation and can add a little extra citrus aroma.
