Description

Cheesy Ranch Potatoes and Smoked Sausage is a hearty and flavorful dish featuring crispy roasted baby potatoes seasoned with ranch spices, topped with browned smoked sausage and melted cheddar cheese, finished with a drizzle of sour cream and fresh parsley. Perfect for a comforting family dinner or casual gathering.

Ingredients

Scale

Potatoes

  • 2 pounds baby potatoes
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 packet ranch seasoning mix

Sausage

  • 1 pound smoked sausage

Toppings

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to prepare for roasting the potatoes.
  2. Wash and Cut Potatoes: Wash the baby potatoes thoroughly, then cut them into bite-sized pieces ensuring uniform size for even cooking.
  3. Season Potatoes: Place the cut potatoes into a large bowl, drizzle with olive oil, and toss with garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and ranch seasoning mix until evenly coated.
  4. Roast Potatoes: Spread the seasoned potatoes in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, stirring halfway through until tender and golden brown.
  5. Slice Sausage: While potatoes are baking, slice the smoked sausage into 1/2-inch thick rounds.
  6. Cook Sausage: Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the sausage slices for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned and crispy on the edges. Remove from heat and set aside.
  7. Combine Sausage and Potatoes: When potatoes are done, remove from oven and gently toss with the cooked smoked sausage.
  8. Add Cheese: Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the potato and sausage mixture, and return the baking sheet to the oven for an additional 5-7 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Finish and Serve: Remove from oven, drizzle sour cream over the top, and garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, use a convection oven setting if available.
  • Swap smoked sausage for your preferred sausage type or plant-based alternative for dietary preferences.
  • Adjust ranch seasoning according to taste or substitute with homemade ranch seasoning.
  • Baby potatoes can be replaced with fingerling or small red potatoes.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days; reheat in oven for best texture.
