Description

Delightful Christmas Cookie Bars bursting with festive red and green M&Ms and rich white chocolate chips, baked to golden perfection. These cheerful bars combine a buttery, chewy base with colorful candy toppings, perfect for holiday gatherings or gifting.

Ingredients

Scale

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Mix-ins

  • 1 cup red and green M&Ms
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy removal after baking.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until the mixture is smooth. Add eggs and vanilla extract, mixing well until fully combined and creamy.
  3. Add Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined to avoid overmixing which can toughen the bars.
  4. Fold in M&Ms and Chips: Incorporate 3/4 cup of the red and green M&Ms along with the white chocolate chips into the batter by folding gently to evenly distribute the festive mix-ins.
  5. Bake: Spread the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan. Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of M&Ms on top, gently pressing them into the dough to help them adhere as they bake. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the edges turn golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool and Slice: Remove the bars from the oven and allow them to cool completely in the baking pan. Once cooled, slice them into approximately 24 squares and serve or store as desired.

Notes

  • Be careful not to overbake to keep the bars soft and chewy; edges should be golden but center moist.
  • Use high-quality M&Ms and white chocolate chips for the best flavor and appearance.
  • The bars can be stored in an airtight container for up to one week or frozen for longer storage.
  • For a fun variation, swap the white chocolate chips with milk or dark chocolate chips.
