Ingredients
Scale
For the Mushrooms
- 16 large white button mushrooms, stems removed and finely chopped
For the Filling
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup lump crab meat, drained and picked over for shells
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the stuffed mushrooms.
- Prepare Mushrooms: Clean the mushroom caps gently with a damp cloth to remove any dirt. Remove the stems carefully and finely chop them, setting them aside for the filling mixture.
- Cook Stems and Garlic: Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped mushroom stems and minced garlic, cooking for about 3-4 minutes until they become soft and fragrant.
- Mix Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked mushroom stems and garlic, softened cream cheese, lump crab meat, grated Parmesan cheese, mayonnaise, chopped fresh parsley, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix everything thoroughly until well incorporated.
- Stuff Mushrooms: Spoon the prepared crab mixture into each mushroom cap, pressing gently to fill them completely and evenly.
- Bake: Arrange the stuffed mushrooms on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the tops turn golden and bubbly.
- Serve: Remove from the oven and let the stuffed mushrooms cool slightly. Garnish with additional chopped parsley if desired before serving.
Notes
- Make sure to thoroughly drain and check the crab meat for any shell fragments before mixing.
- Use fresh parsley for the best flavor, but dried parsley can be substituted if needed.
- Old Bay seasoning adds a classic seafood flavor; adjust the amount to taste if you prefer milder seasoning.
- For extra crispiness, you can broil the mushrooms for 1-2 minutes at the end of baking, watching carefully to avoid burning.
- These stuffed mushrooms can be made ahead of time and refrigerated; bake them just before serving for best results.
