Description

This Creamy Ranch Chicken recipe features tender, juicy chicken breasts seared to perfection and baked in a luscious creamy ranch sauce. The combination of cream cheese, sour cream, and ranch seasoning creates a flavorful, comforting dish that’s perfect for a quick family dinner or entertaining guests.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Sauce

  • 1 packet ranch seasoning mix (approx. 1 ounce)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth

Garnish

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to get it ready for baking the chicken later.
  2. Season and heat skillet: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Season the chicken breasts evenly with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder to build flavor.
  3. Sear the chicken: Place the seasoned chicken breasts in the hot skillet and sear for 4-5 minutes on each side until they develop a golden-brown crust. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Prepare the sauce: In the same skillet, add softened cream cheese, sour cream, chicken broth, and ranch seasoning mix. Stir thoroughly until the sauce is smooth and well combined, scraping up any browned bits for extra flavor.
  5. Coat chicken in sauce: Return the seared chicken breasts to the skillet, spooning and coating each piece generously with the creamy ranch sauce.
  6. Bake the chicken: Transfer the entire skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C), ensuring it is fully cooked and tender.
  7. Garnish and serve: Remove the skillet from the oven, sprinkle freshly chopped parsley over the chicken for a burst of color and freshness. Serve hot with your favorite sides like steamed vegetables, rice, or mashed potatoes.

Notes

  • Make sure the cream cheese is softened to allow easy blending into the sauce.
  • Use a cast-iron or oven-safe skillet to easily transfer from stovetop to oven without changing dishes.
  • Check chicken internal temperature with a meat thermometer to ensure food safety.
  • You can substitute chicken broth with vegetable broth for a milder flavor.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
