Description

A simple and flavorful vegetarian recipe featuring sautéed garlic cauliflower and mushrooms, perfect as a healthy side dish or a light main course ready in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Vegetables

  • 1 head cauliflower, cut into florets
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced

Seasonings and Oils

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Garnish

  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley, for garnish
  • Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cauliflower: Cut the cauliflower into florets, rinse them thoroughly under cold water, then drain and pat dry with a kitchen towel to remove excess moisture.
  2. Cook the Garlic: Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, stirring constantly to prevent burning and to release its aroma.
  3. Add the Cauliflower: Add the cauliflower florets to the skillet, stirring to coat them evenly with the garlic-infused oil. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally until the cauliflower begins to soften and develops a golden brown color.
  4. Add the Mushrooms: Incorporate the sliced mushrooms into the skillet with the cauliflower. Continue cooking for another 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally until the mushrooms are tender and golden brown.
  5. Season the Dish: Season the sautéed vegetables with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Stir well to combine all flavors evenly.
  6. Finish and Serve: Remove the skillet from heat and transfer the garlic cauliflower and mushrooms to a serving dish. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and, if desired, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese for added flavor.
  7. Enjoy: Serve the dish hot as a flavorful side or a light main course.

Notes

  • You can omit Parmesan cheese to keep this recipe vegan.
  • Red pepper flakes are optional; add them to introduce a subtle heat.
  • Use fresh parsley for best flavor when garnishing.
  • Ensure the cauliflower is dried well before cooking to help it brown properly.
  • This dish pairs well with grilled meats or as part of a vegetarian meal.
