Description

A refreshing and delicious iced caramel macchiato made with vanilla syrup, cold milk, freshly brewed espresso, and topped with rich caramel sauce. This easy-to-make coffee drink delivers a perfect balance of sweetness and creaminess, ideal for a quick pick-me-up or a special treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons (10 ml) vanilla syrup, quality vanilla syrup with natural ingredients
  • 6 ounces (180 ml) cold milk (whole milk recommended, but almond or oat milk can be used)
  • 1 ounce (30 ml) freshly brewed espresso, medium roast preferred
  • Ice, plenty to fill the cup
  • Caramel sauce, for drizzling on top (good-quality, made with real sugar)
  • Optional: Whipped cream, for topping (dairy-based for this recipe)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the base: Pour 2 teaspoons (10 ml) of vanilla syrup into the bottom of a 12 oz (360 ml) cup to create a sweet base for the drink. Adjust the amount if using larger cups by increasing the syrup accordingly, and taste to check the sweetness level.
  2. Add milk: Fill the cup halfway with cold milk, about 6 ounces (180 ml). Using whole milk will provide creaminess, but almond or oat milk are good alternatives.
  3. Add ice: Fill the cup with ice almost to the top, leaving space for the espresso. The ice chills the drink and helps maintain the layered effect.
  4. Pour espresso: Slowly pour 1 ounce (30 ml) of freshly brewed espresso over the ice and milk to create a visually appealing distinct layer. Increase espresso quantity for larger servings if desired.
  5. Finish with caramel drizzle: Generously drizzle caramel sauce over the top of the drink, adding sweetness and a rich, attractive finish. Optionally, add whipped cream on top for extra indulgence.

Notes

  • For bigger servings, adjust vanilla syrup to 3 teaspoons for 16 oz cups or 4 teaspoons for 20 oz cups, and increase espresso accordingly (2 oz for 16 oz, 3 oz for 20 oz).
  • Use freshly brewed espresso for optimal flavor; a medium roast works best.
  • Whole milk results in a creamier drink, but plant-based milks can be used for a dairy-free option.
  • Drizzle caramel slowly to create nice streaks on top.
  • Whipped cream is optional but recommended for an extra creamy texture and richness.
