Ingredients
Scale
Blondie Batter
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
- 1 1/4 cups light brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Filling and Topping
- 3/4 cup Nutella
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce (plus extra for drizzling)
- 1/2 teaspoon flaky sea salt
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy removal of the blondies.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until the mixture is smooth and well combined. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, then whisk again until fully incorporated.
- Add Dry Ingredients: Stir in the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt until just combined. Take care not to overmix the batter to keep the blondies tender.
- Assemble Blondie Layers: Spread half of the blondie batter evenly into the prepared pan. Carefully spoon and spread the Nutella over the batter layer, followed by the caramel sauce, ensuring an even distribution without mixing into the batter.
- Top and Season: Gently spread the remaining blondie batter over the Nutella and caramel layers, smoothing the surface. Drizzle a bit more caramel sauce on top and sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon flaky sea salt evenly over the blondies.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 30–35 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted near the edge comes out clean. Note the center may remain gooey, which adds to the texture.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the blondies to cool completely in the pan to set layers before cutting into 16 squares for serving.
Notes
- Chill the Nutella for a few minutes before spreading to make layering easier and neater.
- Store blondies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days to maintain freshness.
- For extra gooeyness, reheat individual squares in the microwave for 10 seconds before eating.
