Ingredients
Scale
For the Drink
- 2 to 4 shots (60 to 120 ml) espresso or strong coffee, freshly brewed and hot
- ½ cup (120 ml) milk, whole preferred for creaminess
- ¼ cup (60 ml) 100% pure pumpkin puree, bright orange color for freshness
- 2 tbsp (30 ml) maple syrup
- 2 tbsp (30 ml) pumpkin pie spice (cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and allspice blend)
For Garnish
- Cinnamon sticks, for garnish
- Canned whipped cream (optional), to top
Instructions
- Brew the Coffee: Brew 2 to 4 shots of espresso or prepare strong coffee until it is hot. Use high-quality fresh beans, preferably dark roast, ground just before brewing, to ensure optimal flavor and a rich base for the cappuccino.
- Combine Pumpkin Mixture: In a medium saucepan, combine ¼ cup pumpkin puree, ½ cup milk, 2 tbsp pumpkin pie spice, and 2 tbsp maple syrup. Whisk thoroughly until the ingredients form a smooth and homogenous mixture.
- Heat the Pumpkin Mixture: Place the saucepan over medium heat and warm the mixture. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking and allow the spices to bloom, continuing until the mixture gently boils and becomes aromatic, about 5 minutes.
- Add Espresso: Remove the saucepan from heat and pour in the freshly brewed hot espresso. Whisk vigorously to blend all ingredients well, ensuring a creamy texture with no lumps.
- Serve and Garnish: Pour the pumpkin spice cappuccino into a mug. Top with canned whipped cream if desired. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and lightly dust pumpkin pie spice on top to enhance aroma and presentation.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use whole milk, but any milk type can be substituted for dietary preferences.
- Freshly brewed espresso is preferred, but strong brewed coffee can be used as an alternative.
- Adjust the pumpkin pie spice and maple syrup quantities to your taste preference for sweetness and spice level.
- The drink is best served immediately to enjoy optimal warmth and texture.
- Whipped cream topping is optional but adds a creamy richness and decorative appeal.
