Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked or canned salmon (drained and flaked)
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 2 green onions (finely chopped)
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 1 teaspoon garlic (minced)
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ cup sesame seeds (white or a mix of white and black)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for frying)
- lemon wedges for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the flaked salmon, breadcrumbs, egg, finely chopped green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, mayonnaise, grated fresh ginger, minced garlic, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
- Form Patties: Divide the mixed salmon mixture evenly and form into 6 uniform patties by shaping them with your hands, ensuring they are compact to hold together during cooking.
- Coat with Sesame Seeds: Spread the sesame seeds on a plate, then press both sides of each patty gently but firmly into the seeds to create an even coating that will crisp up during frying.
- Heat the Oil: In a nonstick skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until hot but not smoking, preparing it for frying the patties.
- Fry Patties: Place the sesame-coated patties carefully in the hot skillet. Fry for 3–4 minutes on each side, or until they turn golden brown and are heated through, cooking evenly without burning.
- Drain and Serve: Transfer the cooked patties to a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil. Serve them warm, accompanied by lemon wedges or your favorite dipping sauce to enhance the flavor.
