Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 (0.25-oz) package instant yeast (2¼ teaspoons)
- 2½ cups Bisquick baking mix
- 2 tablespoons garlic butter
Instructions
- Prepare the sour cream mixture: In a large microwavable bowl, microwave the sour cream for 1 minute until an instant-read thermometer inserted reads 110°F to 115°F. Stir in the sugar and yeast until well blended.
- Make the dough: Add the Bisquick baking mix to the sour cream mixture. Stir well, adding additional Bisquick if needed, until the dough forms a sticky ball.
- Knead the dough: Transfer the dough to a lightly floured work surface. Knead it for about 5 minutes or until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Prepare the baking pan: Spray an 8-inch square pan with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Shape the rolls and let rise: Divide the dough into 12 equal portions. Shape each piece into a ball and place them evenly spaced in the prepared pan. Cover the pan and place it in a warm area to let the dough rise until doubled in size, approximately 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven: While the dough is rising, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the rolls: Remove the cover from the rolls and bake them for 15 to 20 minutes or until they turn golden brown on top.
- Finish with garlic butter: As soon as the rolls are warm from the oven, brush the tops generously with garlic butter for added flavor and shine.
Notes
- Ensure the sour cream is warmed to the correct temperature to activate the yeast properly.
- Kneading the dough sufficiently will help develop good texture in the rolls.
- Letting the rolls rise in a warm spot ensures they double in size properly for a soft and fluffy result.
- You can substitute garlic butter with plain melted butter or herbs for a different flavor.
- These rolls are best served warm but can be reheated gently.
