Description

A quick and flavorful Spicy Garlic Shrimp Noodles recipe combining succulent shrimp with a bold, garlicky, and spicy sauce tossed with your choice of noodles. Ready in just 25 minutes, this dish is perfect for a satisfying weeknight dinner that delivers both heat and savory depth.

Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp and Noodles

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 8 oz noodles (spaghetti, rice noodles, or your choice)

Sauce and Seasoning

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp chili paste or Sriracha (adjust for heat level)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional for extra heat)
  • Chopped green onions for garnish
  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Noodles: Prepare the noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Once cooked, drain the noodles thoroughly and set aside to keep warm.
  2. Sauté Garlic: Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, making sure it does not burn to develop a rich, aromatic base.
  3. Cook the Shrimp: Place the shrimp in the skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside to avoid overcooking.
  4. Prepare the Sauce: In the same skillet, combine soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, chili paste, sugar, sesame oil, water, and rice vinegar. Stir well and bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat to blend the flavors.
  5. Toss Noodles and Shrimp: Add the cooked noodles to the simmering sauce, tossing them to ensure they are evenly coated. Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet and toss everything together for 1-2 minutes to warm through and combine flavors fully.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle red pepper flakes over the dish if additional heat is desired. Garnish with chopped green onions, sesame seeds, and fresh cilantro to add fresh, crunchy, and nutty notes. Serve immediately for best taste and texture.

Notes

  • You can use spaghetti, rice noodles, or any preferred noodles as a base.
  • Adjust chili paste quantity to your preferred level of spiciness.
  • Make sure not to overcook the shrimp to keep them tender and juicy.
  • Garnishes like sesame seeds and cilantro add texture and freshness but are optional.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days; reheat gently to avoid drying out the shrimp.
