Description

A quick and flavorful Spicy Jalapeño Chicken Stir-Fry that’s better than takeout, packed with tender chicken, crisp vegetables, and a savory sauce, ready in just 20 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Protein

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced

Vegetables

  • 2 jalapeños, sliced (seeds removed for less heat)
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, minced

Sauces and Oils

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp honey

Seasonings

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Optional Garnishes

  • Sliced green onions
  • Sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat to prepare for stir-frying the chicken.
  2. Cook the chicken: Add the thinly sliced chicken to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and stir-fry for 5-6 minutes until fully cooked and golden. Remove the chicken and set aside to keep warm.
  3. Sauté aromatics: In the same skillet, add sesame oil, minced garlic, and minced ginger. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, releasing their flavors into the oil.
  4. Cook the vegetables: Add sliced jalapeños, red bell pepper, and broccoli florets to the skillet. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are crisp-tender but still vibrant in color.
  5. Combine chicken and vegetables: Return the cooked chicken slices to the skillet with the vegetables for the final cooking stage.
  6. Add sauces and honey: Pour in soy sauce, oyster sauce, and honey. Toss everything thoroughly to evenly coat the chicken and vegetables, heating through for an additional 2 minutes.
  7. Garnish and serve: Remove from heat and garnish with optional sliced green onions and sesame seeds for added freshness and texture. Serve hot alongside steamed rice or noodles.

Notes

  • You can adjust the heat level by leaving seeds in the jalapeños or using fewer peppers.
  • For a gluten-free version, substitute soy sauce with tamari.
  • Chicken thighs can be used instead of breasts for juicier texture.
  • Vegetables like snap peas or carrots can be added for extra crunch and color.
  • Leftovers store well in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
