Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 2 packs instant ramen noodles (discard seasoning packets)
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon sriracha (adjust to taste)
- 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)
- Red pepper flakes to taste (optional)
Instructions
- Cook Noodles: Cook the ramen noodles according to the package directions. Once cooked, drain the noodles and set them aside to prepare the sauce.
- Prepare Sauce Base: Heat sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and grated fresh ginger, sautéing for about 30 seconds until fragrant to release their aromatic flavors.
- Simmer Sauce: Stir in the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sriracha, honey, and water into the skillet. Allow the sauce to simmer gently for 1-2 minutes until it thickens slightly, blending the sweet and spicy flavors together.
- Toss Noodles in Sauce: Add the cooked noodles to the skillet with the sauce. Toss thoroughly to coat the noodles evenly. Cook for an additional minute to heat through and absorb the sauce flavors.
- Garnish and Serve: Transfer the noodles to serving bowls. Top with sliced green onions, sesame seeds, and red pepper flakes if desired. Serve immediately for the best flavor and texture.
Notes
- For added protein, stir in a scrambled egg, cooked shrimp, chicken, or tofu along with the noodles.
- Use rice noodles instead of instant ramen for a gluten-free version.
- Adjust the amount of sriracha and red pepper flakes to control the spice level.
- Honey can be substituted with brown sugar to maintain the sweetness.
