Description

A quick and delicious Sweet & Spicy Ramen Noodles recipe featuring tender instant noodles tossed in a flavorful sauce made from soy, hoisin, sriracha, and honey. Perfect for a satisfying vegetarian main course with a hint of heat and sweetness, garnished with green onions and sesame seeds.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 2 packs instant ramen noodles (discard seasoning packets)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)
  • Red pepper flakes to taste (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook Noodles: Cook the ramen noodles according to the package directions. Once cooked, drain the noodles and set them aside to prepare the sauce.
  2. Prepare Sauce Base: Heat sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and grated fresh ginger, sautéing for about 30 seconds until fragrant to release their aromatic flavors.
  3. Simmer Sauce: Stir in the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, sriracha, honey, and water into the skillet. Allow the sauce to simmer gently for 1-2 minutes until it thickens slightly, blending the sweet and spicy flavors together.
  4. Toss Noodles in Sauce: Add the cooked noodles to the skillet with the sauce. Toss thoroughly to coat the noodles evenly. Cook for an additional minute to heat through and absorb the sauce flavors.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Transfer the noodles to serving bowls. Top with sliced green onions, sesame seeds, and red pepper flakes if desired. Serve immediately for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • For added protein, stir in a scrambled egg, cooked shrimp, chicken, or tofu along with the noodles.
  • Use rice noodles instead of instant ramen for a gluten-free version.
  • Adjust the amount of sriracha and red pepper flakes to control the spice level.
  • Honey can be substituted with brown sugar to maintain the sweetness.
